Risk of death after heart attack almost double national average at Bantry GeneralNearly nine in every 100 people who have a heart attack and attend Bantry General die within 30 days of admission, according to a new report

The figure is almost double the national average of 5.29 deaths per 100 patients.

The Irish Independent reports Our Lady’s Hospital Navan and St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny had the lowest heart attack mortality rates.

The report also shows variations in death rates from ischaemic strokes with the lowest rates found at the Mercy Hospital, and at
St James’s Hospital in Dublin, and at Waterford hospital.

The report cautions there may be several reasons for the differences including patient health
