Mental health is very widely discussed nowadays. Celebrities regularly come forward sharing personal stories of depression, anxiety, addiction and hopelessness and despair. How do these people  struggle so much we wonder. After all they have it all: good looks, talent, wealth, beautiful partners and enormous success. We can only dream about their good fortune as we struggle to survive in our own mundane life. then we realize. Maybe self acceptance is a lot more powerful then striving to be perfect. Success may not be all about reaching the top of the corporate ladder. Loving those around us and being grateful for our ordinary life may generate a sense of well being and satisfaction that is immeasurable.  Gratitude is such a powerful antidote to depression. Every therapeutic practice use some form of gratitude to help people with mental health issues. Universally gratitude is practiced. We teach children the art of saying thank you as soon as they can speak. Research demonstrates the benefits of gratitude. It is simple but very profound in bringing us a sense of well being and contentment with our own lives.
